hi gang,
eric just dropped off another stove. this one goes in the new house michelles mom is building.
stove appears to have been refurbed some years ago (timer, thermostat etc). came with universal mixing pins. bottom oven damper doesnt close properly and i need to straighten and refinish the griddle, adjust the broiler mechanism etc. but overall not bad.
missed the threads on which stove to buy, but ya'll know what i would've said!
question; approx what year did chambers change from the sillouette type logo to the plaque type on the stove?
enjoy the rest of the summer

Tom,
I think the A and B models came with the silouette logos and when the C models first came out they had the plaque type logos. However, somewhere in the mid 50's Chambers reverted back to the sillouette logos again. This is how I identify 1949 to mid 50's model Cs. The late to 50's to early 60's Chambers have the sillouette. Sam, correct me if I am wrong on this.

This question will probably be answered when I get my service manual but should the oven damper close all the way, tightly, when closed, or should there be a slight gap. My 'new' 1949 61C has a slight gap when closed.

From what I understand from reading and experience, the bottom damper in the oven should close flush with the surface. I have often seen on various Chambers that by slowly closing the oven gas valve, an edge of the round damper will catch and will not close completely, but when the gas valve handle is quickly closed, it will close properly.
